The main topic amongst the south Kurdistani people has been corruption for a long time now. But recently Talabani was asked about those who criticise him harshly, in reply he has said "they are just barking at the blue moon" or something along those meanings!
Hundreds of articles have been written about this as this is the second time the word "dog" which is a very taboo meaning in Kurdish to be used against any one in public or private has been used! Previously a senior KDP man used the Dog Word against the Kurdish people in general telling us that we were like dogs that we were only loyal to those who fed us! He is still in the shadows and the campaign which took him to court is still trying to get him indicted for his insult.
Gandalistan ( corruptionistan ) is the interesting word which was used by a writer on the Critique by Hammer website http://www.kurdistanpost.com/ that made me write a little bit about Talabani's comment in English. The bitter fact though for the Kurdish leaders is that they do fear any voice especially in writing and they do everything they can to prevent anything popping up anywhere where people can read or hear it!
It was last week when a junior doctor was beaten by a police Lieutenant-colonel's guards BECAUSE the doctor did not give him an injection he had asked for as it was not medically safe and true! UNBELIEVABLE!!! So the doctors walked out of the hospitals when it came out that the guards had taken the junior to a police station and further beaten the junior in the middle of the night! Their strike was backed by the medical students of Slemani University and the independent media in and outside CorruptionStan!
The KDP and PUK still enjoy the fact that they have enough power to crush anyone who would even think about starting a movement which would replace either of them. As Nawshirwan Mustafa the only sensible man in PUK put it, the fact that the PUK&PDK are in a %100 alliance is the only way to their survival as it is just better than being in war against each other!
